Todd Lafraniere is a high school music teacher and a drummer-percussionist residing in London, Ontario, Canada. He studied music at the University of Western Ontario in London. After completing his Bachelor of Musical Education, Todd attended Althouse Teacher’s College, earning a Bachelor of Education degree.
As a drummer, Todd has performed with several symphony orchestras across Canada and the United States backing up such artists as Roger Hodgson (Supertramp), Rik Emmett (Triumph), Martin Frye (ABC), and Alan Frew (Glass Tiger). He has also performed in a variety of musical genres including Musical Theatre, Big Band, and various “Pop” and Jazz groups in London, Ontario. In the spring of 2003, Todd had the privilege of performing at the London-Derry Jazz Festival in Ireland, and recently returned from performing with the Celebrity Orchestra on Celebrity Cruise Line’s ship “Millennium”. As a founding member of the Spirit Band, he has opened for Honeymoon Suite, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Frankie Avalon, and Tommy James & The Shondells. This very busy Pop group has also performed for countless corporate and fundraising events in and around Southwestern Ontario such as the World Transplant Games (backing up 2004 Canadian Idol runner-up Theresa Sokyrka), Labbat’s, Canada Trust, the Land Surveyors of Ontario, Johnson’s Wax, Bethany’s Hope Foundation, the Blind Ball, the Gold Ball, and the Big Sister’s Annual Fundraiser, to name a few.
Todd is currently teaching at Oakridge Secondary School in London, Ontario. He conducts both the Junior and Intermediate Band, is musical director for school musical productions, and directs the Senior and Junior Jazz Bands.
