The Toronto native Salomaa comes from an artistic, musical family. Singing happened naturally at home, at church and at folk gatherings. As a child she participated in numerous professional endeavors while studying dance, classical violin, drama and voice.

In her twenty year career in the arts she has worked as an actor/dancer/singer with such companies as the Canadian Opera Company, the Tarragon Theatre, and the Canadian Children's Dance Theatre (with directors such as Danny Grossman and Robert Derosiers).

Her background in dance and drama came in handy when she began to focus on music as a young adult.

Leah enjoys her work in music as a vocalist, composer, pianist, percussionist and songwriter. She enjoys fusing her theatrical background, classical training and natural love for folk music into various traditional and contemporary endevours.

She is currently creating new music while enjoying recording and performing traditional and Celtic songs.
