| Born in Hamilton, Ontario,
Paul Stevenson has been regarded as one of Canadas most versatile trumpet
players and is one of the few trumpet players of today who is truly at home with
both classical and jazz. Since moving to London Ontario, Paul has been freelancing
internationally and has played with Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra (Texas),
Rowan Oak Symphony Orchestra (West Virginia), Stratford Festival of Canada, Thunder
Bay Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra London Canada.. Electrifying audiences with
his playing, Paul can soar into the stratosphere in a brilliant solo and then
captivate listeners with a flugelhorn ballad. "He plays the instrument like
it should be played: Without hesitation and with all the bravado one can muster"
wrote Lana Shults of the Wichita Falls Times Record. Paul currently has three
solo shows with Jeans and Classics including Brassed Off 1 and 2 and Blood Sweat
& Chicago which he has performed with orchestras across the United States
and Canada. Paul is also a regular guest soloist with Jeans n Classics and
Orchestra London Canada and the guest soloist of Micheal Reasonss Pops
show Carnival in Rio. This year Paul will be debuting with the Calgary Philharmonic
with a Latin Pops show under the baton of conductor/composer Jeff Christmas and
will have two guest appearances with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
Paul has performed with
numerous great popular artists such as Roger Hogson of Supertramp, Diana Krall,
Aretha Franklin, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Natalie Cole, Phil Nimmons, The
Temptations, Holly Cole, Larry Gowan, Rick Emmett Allen Frew, Guido Basso, Frankie
Valle and The Four Seasons, Della Reese and many others. He has recorded over
20 CD projects including 6 recordings with Brassroots a 10 piece brass and percussion
ensemble that Paul has been principal trumpet of for the passed 15 years. His
film and television credits included Casinos of the World, Lands of Lakes and
Rivers (Canada Summer Games 2000), The Chat Room, Rude Girls and Green Bananas.
Pauls talents has helped produce numerous jingles for radio and television.
Performing for corporate events and club work throughout Ontario keep Paul engaged.
Paul is currently an educator with the Thames Valley District School Board.
He holds a Masters degree in Performance from the University of Western Ontario,
and a degree in Education from the University of Windsor.
